Mar 13 - Bedford Genealogical Society to feature Ed Tinsley - 1:30pm

The Bedford Genealogical Society, will feature Ed Tinsley, a retired Virginia State Trooper. In August, 1969, Tinsley was involved in the evacuation, rescue, and recovery of Virginia residents in one of the worst storms to hit the state. Hurricane Camille came roaring into the state and in some areas dumped 31 inches of rain in a matter of hours. Especially hard hit was Nelson county where over 120 people died. Tinsley kept an audio diary of each day of this experience and this recording became the basis of the documentary, "Portrait of a Disaster." - Bedford Public Library, Community Room 321 N. Offering a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, and hilarious comedy routines, the Harlem Ambassadors are talented male and female basketball players that are drug-free, college-educated, and positive in appearance. They are committed to giving their audience quality family entertainment and serving as excellent role models for young people with their program’s themes to stay in school and stay drug free. The Harlem Ambassadors will play against a team of local leaders and hometown heroes.
