For your proposal place, your wedding ceremony or, Wedding/Honeymoon. We are open seven days a week, year-round, by appointment. Getting married is one of the most significant events of your life. It is a time of pure commitment and sacredness. Eloping--just the two of you-- offers you the opportunity to concentrate only on each other & your vows.. If you wish to have a professional photographer, we can arrange this for you. NO WAITING PERIOD REQUIRED IN VIRGINIA BEFORE MARRYING. PERFECTLY ROMANTIC PROPOSAL PLACE! $100. Popping the question is one of the most important things you will do in your life. There are several places at Serenity’s Edge to propose in beautiful natural settings. The place of your choosing will be reserved for two hours of time so that you can have complete privacy in proposing to the one you love. FOR MARRIAGES at SERENITY'S EDGE: Our expertise in the wedding market is elopements--just the two of you--no guests. We concentrate our attention on you and your wishes and offer a unique wedding service. Since we only have elopement weddings at Serenity's Edge, please do ask to include guests. Serenity's Edge offers a variety of wedding options from a very simple civil elopement ceremony to an elegant traditional all-inclusive package. All of these packages can also be used for vow renewals. If you decide to honeymoon here, you have your own private cottage--complete with a hot tub or soaking tub. Winter time: Marriages take place in the Solarium, warmed by the sun, full of tropical plants and in front of the massive stone fireplace with a roaring fire. Warm weather: Marriages take place in the Gazebo or the round garden, with gentle breezes, a symphony of song birds, the scent of flowers, and the brilliant colors of nature amongst a background of mountains and trees. Your vows: Since what you say to each other is important in helping you have a perfect wedding day, you can write your own vows, your vows can be written especially for you--or, we have standard civil or religious ceremonies that can be used. Timing: We can often do marriage ceremonies spur the moment IF you call (540-947-2468) to make an appointment time. Please respect the privacy of our guests--we ask that you not just drive up and perhaps interrupt someone's wedding. Most elopement weddings at Serenity's Edge are planned several weeks or months in advance. Our goal: To offer you and your fiancé sacred natural spaces and quiet beauty. This cannot be achieved when children are running around, cars are parking everywhere or, perhaps your relatives are bickering. This is the reason we have a no guest policy. DATE BOOKING POLICY: When you wish to reserve your wedding date, a credit card (Visa or Master Card) is required to secure it. Once you have given your credit card, your date is confirmed and your deposit is processed immediately. Any changes adhere to the policies listed below. For ceremony only: Full payment via Visa or MasterCard is due upon booking date.
You will receive a confirmation letter and a receipt when your deposit is processed. If you need to change your date or cancel : Once you have reserved your wedding date, if you need to permanently cancel your plans 22 days or more before your reserved date, your payment is fully refundable. Once you have reserved your wedding date, if you need to permanently cancel your plans 21 days or less before your reserved date, your payment is refundable ONLY if your present date can be re-booked. In the case where your date is re-booked, a check will be mailed to you after your original reserved date. If you need to re-schedule your wedding after your payment has been credited and with at least 14 days or more advance notice, we will gladly re-schedule your wedding up to six months. In general, after your arrival, if an early departure is chosen, there will be no refund. OUR LEGAL POLICY FOR SERVING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT WEDDINGS: If you are an overnight guest at Serenity's Edge, we can serve you a champagne toast (if you wish) at the wedding. No other alcoholic beverages are permitted at the wedding. If you are NOT an overnight guest staying at Serenity's Edge, we cannot serve you alcoholic beverages. YOU must provide a valid Virginia marriage license. Marriage Licenses:

A marriage license can be obtained at any Virginia courthouse. BOTH OF YOU MUST APPLY FOR THE LICENSE TOGETHER. A valid ID is needed, including a picture, current address and date of birth. You must be at least 18 years old. No blood test, waiting time or residency requirements are required. Once you have your license you can marry immediately! At most Virginia clerk offices the hours for obtaining marriage licenses are Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 4:30p.m. (except Holidays) for $30 CASH. It is suggested however, that you call the clerk's office where you plan to get your license to confirm their hours. Copies of marriage certificates for proof of marriage are available from the clerks office after the original license is returned by the marriage celebrant. Provide name of groom, maiden name of bride, date of marriage and $3.00 cash or money-order for each certified copy; stamped, self-addressed envelope if mailing. There have been instances where couples have waited till the last minute to get their license only to find the office closed. If you do not have your license, you cannot be married. If getting your license from Bedford County (this is 12 miles from Serenity's Edge) and you need more information, call the Bedford County Circuit Court Clerk's office at (540) 586-7632.
